The Printing Process That Clothing Design Needs To Know

November 30, 2020

It is one of the indispensable crafts in the field of clothing design. Printed fabrics are artistic products. Choose the corresponding printing crafts according to the design patterns, so you need to understand the following printing crafts.

1. Water slurry printing process

It is one of the most basic printing processes in the screen printing industry. Its working principle is similar to dyeing. The difference is that it “dyes” a certain area of the fabric into the color required for the flower position.

The advantage is that it can be printed on almost all light background fabrics, it is widely used, the flower position fastness is very good, and it can print better results at a relatively low price; the limitation is that it cannot be applied to all dark fabrics .

2. The glue printing process

The glue printing process uses a special chemical gel and dyes to be highly seamlessly mixed. The dye is firmly attached to the fabric through the medium of the gel, which overcomes the limitations of water-based printing.

Its characteristic is to adapt to printing of various color depths and materials. It can be printed on blended fabrics of cotton, linen, viscose, polyester, nylon, polypropylene, chlorine and various fibers, as well as on leather, artificial leather and other materials. For printing, it can be used for fluorescent printing, inkjet printing, burnout printing, electrostatic flocking printing and other printing processes.

The biggest advantage of the glue printing process is that it is widely used, beautiful in color, and high in reduction. However, its printing process is more complicated than the water slurry printing process, and the cost is relatively high. Due to its certain hardness, it is not suitable for large-scale field pattern.

3. Foam printing process

Foam printing, also known as three-dimensional printing, is developed on the basis of the glue printing process. Its principle is to add a certain proportion of chemical substances with a high expansion coefficient to the glue printing dye, and the printed position is dried Then use 200-300 degree high temperature foaming to achieve a three-dimensional effect similar to "relief".

The biggest advantage is that it has a strong three-dimensional effect, and the printing surface is prominent and swollen. It is widely used in materials such as cotton cloth and nylon cloth.

4. Flocking printing process

The electrostatic flocking printing process is one of the three-dimensional printing processes. The principle is to transfer a high-strength compound resin adhesive brightener to the surface of the substrate with a silk screen containing the desired pattern, and then let the fiber fluff be charged through a high-voltage electrostatic field of hundreds of thousands of volts to make the fluff vertically and evenly It quickly "bumps" on the adhesive, and "lays" a layer of fluff on the surface of the fabric, which is then cured by high temperature.

The advantages of products printed by flocking process are strong three-dimensionality, bright colors, soft touch, non-flocking and wear-resistant. Cotton, linen, leather, nylon cloth, various PVC, denim, rubber, sponge, metal, foam, plastic, resin non-proof cloth, etc. can be printed.

5. Photosensitive printing

Photochromic printing is also known as photochromic printing. In the early days, photochromic dyes were used. Under the irradiation of ultraviolet rays, the structure of the dye changes and presents different colors. Now that the microcapsule technology is used to coat the light variable dye in the capsule, its light fastness is greatly improved.

The so-called light-sensitive discoloration changes from one color to another, which means that the light-changing dye and the general color paint are mixed together in the printing paste to start printing. For example, the photochromic dye red and paint blue are mixed and printed, and the surface of the fabric appears blue, and it becomes blue-violet under ultraviolet light.

6. Thermal printing

Thermochromic printing is also known as thermochromic printing. The early thermochromic printing has used thermochromic dyes to be processed into microcapsules and printed on fabrics.

At present, thermochromic dyes have developed to 15 basic colors, and each color can be mixed with each other. The color spectrum is complete, and it can also be mixed with color coatings. Therefore, thermochromic dyes can not only change from colored to colorless, but also From one color to another, the temperature residence time of discoloration is becoming more and more sensitive, from the original discoloration residence temperature of more than 10℃ to the current one of less than 5℃.

7. Fluorescent printing process

The fluorescent printing process is a new type of special printing process. The principle is to use a special process to integrate the photoluminescence self-luminous material into the fabric, and realize the automatic light-emitting function by absorbing various visible light. Its characteristic is that it can be used for unlimited times.

From the technological point of view, there are: fluorescent paint printing process, fluorescent paint and common paint co-direct printing, fluorescent paint and reactive dye co-direct printing, reactive dye ground-color discharge printing, phthalocyanine anti-dye printing.

8. Discharge printing process

The discharge printing process refers to the process of partially erasing the original white or colorful patterns on the dyed fabric by printing. Its characteristic is that it can print more detailed patterns on the fabric of the background color, which has the effect of clear and even ground.

Its advantages are complete chromatogram, simple process, soft feel, and good environmental protection, especially for products with bright color requirements, and have good application value, and are often used for printing high-end fabrics; but the process is complicated and the printing is flawed. It is not easy to detect in time, and the cost is also high.

9. Digital printing process

It is a high-tech product integrating machinery, computer and electronic information technology gradually formed with the continuous development of computer technology. The emergence and continuous improvement of this technology has brought a new concept to the textile printing and dyeing industry. Its advanced production principles and methods have brought an unprecedented development opportunity to textile printing and dyeing.
