Embroidery, also called "embroidery", is one of the earliest ethnic textile crafts in China, which originated 3000 years ago. There are four famous embroidery in China: Suzhou embroidery, Guangdong embroidery, Shu embroidery, and Hunan embroidery. With the development of modern industry, embroidery has also changed from traditional hand weaving to computer embroidery, inheriting the weaving patterns and methods of traditional hand embroidery!
Modern embroidery fabrics are embroidered with a machine after the fabric is woven. Compared with printing, the embroidery will not fade during washing. The materials are mostly pure cotton, lace, etc., and have better breathability and moisture absorption.
In ancient China, embroidery has been used in clothing design. Basically, the fabrics are embroidered with birds, animals, dragons and phoenix, or auspicious characters, which are mostly used for royals and nobles or official clothes. It is still one of the important elements of Hanfu.
In modern clothing design, embroidery has good post-processing properties and can design unique clothing. Most women's clothing uses elegant floral patterns, and lace is used to show the effect of embroidery. Regular geometric patterns are often used in men's clothing, and embroidery is more often embellished. Children's clothing uses lively and cute cartoon images to enhance the three-dimensional sense of clothing.
Embroidery techniques include flat embroidery, color embroidery, three-dimensional embroidery, appliqué embroidery, bead embroidery, and glitter embroidery. Adult clothing often uses natural thread or similar color thread, and children's clothing is mostly used for color embroidery and patch embroidery.
